Pussy Party 3!

Speculums on parade!

Speculums on parade!

We keep having awesome events in St. Louis!

Let me tell you something about hosting edgy, sexually themed events in the Midwest – it’s a little bit frustrating.

First of all, you get the idea, or the request from someone in the community.

You can’t execute it immediately – you have to plan ahead in order to do it right.

So, by the time the event is announced, things have changed, and the people who requested the event in the first place are no longer available.

Each event is inspired by something or somebody who is, in all likelihood, no longer part of the equation by the time it’s put on the calendar.

In the days leading up to the event, and ESPECIALLY on the day of the event itself, you field all these regretful messages from people who can’t make it. To add insult to injury, they ask you to schedule another event like it soon, not realizing how much time and energy it takes to plan. Not to mention how fucking busy you are. But hey, so are they! Life happens.

But then!

the event happens, and the people who show up are the right people, and it ends up being amazing and totally worth it.

Every event is a crap shoot, and 80% of the time, it’s a winner.

Sure, we have some dud events, but we learn from them and move on.

In my opinion, the Pussy Party theme is one that should be repeated at least twice a year. It is WORTHWHILE.

This time, we had about eight women attend – four canceled at the last minute.

PRO TIP: If you’re attending a party where people are getting naked, try to show up on time. It can be awkward walking in on someone with their pants off, ESPECIALLY when a speculum is involved. Just sayin’.

Speaking of speculums, check out my fun collection! I have small, medium, and large.  The small ones are so cute! But, pediatric size, so kind of disturbing.

I got some from Amazon due to the cheap price, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend every woman own their own personal speculum, and here is where you should get it: MedicalToys.com. I have the Graves Medium size #220-4001 (I’m 40 and am average size and have had one vaginal birth).

I was a little bummed at the lighter attendance for such a special event, but it ended up being perfect!

I can’t go into too many personal details in order to protect privacy, but we had such a diverse group – black, white, straight, bisexual, lesbian, women who have given birth, women who have not, women who have had a hysterectomy, women who have not, younger, older, pierced, sex workers, slim and curvy, women used to being naked around others, women new to SEX+STL culture… it was great!

Here’s an action shot of me:

My pink playground!

My pink playground!

I got to check in on my cervix-less vagina one year post-hysterectomy. My dead end had two visible scars where my cervix used to be. Besides the subtle darker marks, I was very smooth and pink. I love knowing myself inside and out! And I felt honored to see other women in a similar state. We all took turns showing off our pussies and talking about them. It was liberating, intimate, and empowering. As always!

NOTE: The next Pussy Party is tentatively scheduled for April 8. Be there, or be a man! (no men allowed)

From hosting similar events, I know that while it might seem like larger groups might seem like a good idea they usually end up devolving into smaller groups anyway. Eight is actually a pretty good number for an intimate gathering.

As to the “coming in late” thing, I have found that if you know the guest list, and have contact information, it is good to check in with folks to verify if they are coming or not, and if you need to, to go ahead and run the pre-event social/mingle time a little longer if you can.

I also have installed a full-length sliding curtain in my home near the entrance, in the room where I host this sort of gathering, so that there is a sort of a “hallway” that one must traverse when one arrives that provides a transition space between the “naked” and “non-naked” space. It seems like a small thing (and it is) but our options are pretty limited in that sort of set up, unless we are going to make an asolute rule about barring the door at a certain hour to avoid mood/vibe killing interruptions of that sort.

I have offered my space to my partners and friends to be able to have a pussy party… but thus far, no one has stepped up to take the lead… more’s the pity.

We used to close the door at certain time for our female-only kink parties and we had a curtain barrier also. But they were held at people’s houses, so that made it easy to control. And we had a cover charge, door people, hand stamps – the whole nine yards. You had to RSVP to get the address, so with all those controls, it made it less likely for people *not* to show up.

Of course, life still gets in the way, but when you make people put a little more effort into realizing the value of the event, they’re more likely to actually attend. And the RIGHT people, who really want to be there, will make the effort.

Kendra, I’m truly sorry I was one of those pains in the ass that had to cancel because of a last minute work obligation, but I’m already planning ahead for the next one and writing it in my calendar now!

Just wondering here if there has been any thought of doing a Penis party? Given the emphasis that most males put on size, I could see considerable justification for it, but I am not entirely sure that men would be capable of processing it without it becoming an excuse to become sexual… and in my observation, men rarely need another excuse to become sexual.

My guess is that if I hosted a penis party I would end up with exactly *no* participants in attendance…

…might be worth an experiment though…

We tried a “Dicktacular!” event. It tanked.

I wonder if making it a CFNM event might improve the attendance?

But of course that would heighten interest and change the game. Slippery slope between educational and entertaining!

          Bread *AND* circuses dear…

(and, generally speaking, a slippery slope is a device that is usually employed to support a fallacious argument)

The reality is that a good deal of the issues that guys have about their penis is going to be about size, and having a bunch of guys in the room together talking about size in the abstract probably won’t be as helpful to them as having that same room full of guys with *women* who can offer their healthy, unfiltered opinions on penis size…

My further thought is that the biggest hindrance to this sort of gathering is that in our homophobic society, men are afraid to be naked in a room with other men… but I am thinking that a group of female facilitators might be enough to get them past that enough to convince them that it was “not gay” enough to at least get over themselves enough to show up… (or not get beaten up for *being* gay.)

          …just brainstorming here…

You know if you need another private venue, I’ve offered. I’m planning on doing another wine and cheese even next year to benefit Sex+STL if you wanted.

Thank you! Just to be clear, I’m involved with SEX+STL (not for profit community volunteer effort, such as this Pussy Party) and TBK (my own personal passion empire). Thank you for offering to host exceptional sex-positive events in St Louis!
