By Kendra Holliday | July 12, 2022

I know this isn’t a sexy topic, but during this pandemic I’ve been getting lots of inquiries from desperately sad people. Some are suicidal.

I’m not a licensed therapist. My specialty is sex, not suicide. But I truly care about your health and happiness, and I’ve struggled with mental health my entire life, and have been suicidal myself.

This is off topic, but lately, I have been wondering whether a middle-ground solution can be found regarding the pro-life/pro-choice matter.

Myself, I have always been pro life. Recently, I read somewhere that the brain/nervous system of the fetus starts forming after the 8th week. So perhaps I could agree after all to abortions being legal until the 8th week.

What do you think? As a pro choice, would you compromise with that, or do you still think that women should be allowed to abort anytime during gestation?

As a woman, I would personally be ok with having an abortion within the first trimester of an unwanted pregnancy, but of course, the sooner the better.
If I found out later in the pregnancy that the fetus had a fatal condition (such as no brain), I would seriously consider terminating the pregnancy before the baby was born at full term, only to die a few minutes later.
As for other women, that is up to them on what they want to do, it’s their personal decision and not my business. They know all their circumstances and the impact it would have on their lives, not me.

I mean that, if a fetus has a brain/nervous system after the 8th week, you can’t deny that it’s a living thing, so it’s not just about the woman. That’s why I wondered whether the 8th week could be a middle-ground solution most of us could agree on.
