The Joke’s On Me

I was at my parent’s house, sitting in their kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal.

I turned and suddenly saw this huge poster of Heath Ledger in clown drag glaring down at me.

AHHHHHH!

Clearly I am being punished for that post I wrote about his death earlier this year.

So yeah. Most people’s parents decorate their kitchen with cows or that awful fake green ivy. Not MY mom.

Great (old) post on Ledger. I fully agree. I am sick of people excusing his overdose as incidental. It was suicide. And if it wasn’t fully intentional that it was massive neglect that no one should really feel sorry for. I’ve been taking anxiety and depression medications for years and I know better. I have a thing called a responsible doctor who charges me on a sliding scale. I was coping, Ledger was indulging.

My fear now is he wins the Oscar for best actor and his suicide becomes all the more glorified. It’s disgusting. Hollywood is a sad world and how much do you want to bet that, regardless, he gets some sort of standing ovation. Puke. Also, I am in complete agreement about Juno. I thought that movie was fairly awful. Except for the parents of the girl. They were hilarious. She however was just bad and lame.

    tangentially related but definitely scarier:

  4. Lokey Says:

Ledger’s Joker was one sexy motherfucker though.

  5. lena Says:

Amen Floyd. I am with you on that one.

  6. Joy Says:

Id have to say that I was unhappy about hearing about Ledgers potential Oscar, but after seeing the movie, I was amazed, he was increadable. Loved it and intend on seeing it again, but this time in the back row with my guys hand up my skirt :)

  7. The Beautiful Kind Says:

Yo, is it THAT hot? Like, comic book porn?

I STILL need to watch Wolverine in action…

  8. Dor Says:

Id love that poster over our bed, it would make me feel all cozy before I go to sleep.

  9. Reverend-Lion Says:

Daddy is about to go see Heath’s final work, himself.
I’ll be back later to tell everyone how it is.
It’s been out like 2.5 weeks and the IMAX is sold out tonight on a wednesday!!! DAMN. it’s literally the most popular movie ever. and that’s NOT because he died. i really think it would still be anyway……………..

  10. Joy Says:

Ohfg, his sadistic nature made me so wet, not to mention I love batman, so then I had rolling thoughts of them both fucking me hard at the same time.
Ah, and Wolverine, yes, I want him to fuck me with his spike running across my throat.

  11. Dor Says:

I just watched the trailer, Im pretty sure I wouldn’t like it.

  12. MsKittyFantastico Says:

It’s been sold out in Chicago for two weeks too! BOO! I’m dying to see it! IMAX would be kick ass!

  13. Josh Says:

Awesome. Someone else from Chicago on here!

  14. Dor Says:

I wish I lived in Chicago.

  15. Josh Says:

    Why is that, Dor?

  16. Dor Says:

Its much better than St Loius, this town is lame.

  17. Reverend-Lion Says:

    THIS JUST IN ~~~~~~~~~

    batman was badass ! ! ! !
TBK, you won’t like it. it didn’t break that “amazing” threshold for me. it was a solid ass crime drama, yet had 2 sexy ass characters in it (batman/joker). I give it 4.2 stars out of 5. if you have a penis, you will LOVE the motorcycle…….and most of the effects in the movie are real, this director hates CGI.
all i can say is that it was EPIC.
    SOLID.
    SEXY.
    DARK.
SO many fucking twists and turns it keeps you moist the whole time.
I didn’t cry til late in the movie, i wish i had cried sooner. It’s generally good to draw the viewer in early in the movie with heart wrenching vibes, but i did cry…..
michael caine and morgan freeman are both perfect.
and heath was great. no oscar, but solid. and christian bale did WAY better than i had expected.
i wish i had been getting my dick sucked during…….

Chicago IS way better than St. Louis, but it ain’t bad. And Dor, um, you live in the county.

Rev Lion - Please tell me Joker and Batman hatefucked each other. And if Morgan Freeman was in it, does that mean he narrated the film? Why does he narrate everything? Do you think he sits around his house in Mississippi and narrates his daily life: “I’m going to make coffee now, and then I will get the paper. Let’s hope I don’t burn my bagel again. Where is Jack Nicholson?”

  19. Dor Says:

TBK, I go to the city frequently, I will admit south grand is pretty cool but thats about it. The wife used to live in the city, never blew me away, we have a St. Louis address. I’ve been to the burbs and city in Chicago, they both rock, some of the cooler burbs are better than the city. U-City isn’t the city and its one of the best places in St. Louis.

  20. The Beautiful Kind Says:

I’m no St Louis city/county expert, but I think the following places can be added to your list of cool places (which so far is S Grand and U City):
    Benton Park West
    Soulard
    Bevo
    The Hill
    Tower Grove
    Shaw
    Central West End
    downtown Maplewood
    downtown Kirkwood
    Dogtown
    Cherokee
    Lafayette Sq

We have all kinds of odd buried treasure around St Louis - Laumeier Sculpture Park, a dollhouse museum, a labyrinth, a Chinese garden that’s better than the gardens I saw in China, belly dancers galore, a saxophone museum, a chocolate bar, Dorsett Inn (JUST KIDDING)

Pretty much any area where you can walk to a library or post office is a cool place in my book. Funky shops = added bonus. If you have to get in the car and drive to one of those places, you’re too sprawled out.

And still agree that Chicago is way better than St Lou.

  21. Dor Says:

I should clarify, that its not so much the town itself that I don’t like but the people. St Louis is a very religious and family oriented city. It HAS made great strides in the past decade and is MUCH better. I’ve often thought that, instead of whining that there aren’t enough cool places here, that I should OPEN a cool place. I love the idea of a trippy, gourmet, donut shop, as far as I know, we don’t have one. If I wasn’t so damn apathetic, I would have done it by now!

  23. Reverend-Lion Says:

TBK- No they didn’t hate fuck each other, BUT this movie did display, quite beautifully, the Yin-Yang love affair between the two of them.
    They need each other.
Joker does tell Batman that he needs him.
    it’s quite special.
And batman in return displays his love for the joker, but never can admit it outloud.
Batman was probably afraid of The BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN incident happening to him.

  24. valentine Says:

I really do love heath ledger. Ever since I saw Brokeback Mountain. He was amazing as the joker. His performance was easily the best thing about the movie.

Plus he was the only joker I could consider hot. He made me have Joker/Harley Quinn fantasies.

  25. valentine Says:

Ooh, and I want that poster.

  26. David Says:

Maybe your parents like cool movies? Dark Knight was pretty good, and the Joker was way evil.

  27. MsKittyFantastico Says:

Oh yeah, Chicago is great! Except when the movie you want to see is sold out in every theater! lol I love when the fog rolls in and the buildings play peek a boo! The lake is great too! So many beautiful places here. But nothing beats the nature of Michigan for me. The Traverse City area is phenomenal!

  28. Rockabilly Girl Says:

MsKitty, I will agree, I love Chicago! Upper Peninsula rocks for nature, the 12 Mile Beach has some of the greatest scenery and relaxing sunsets.

  29. MsKittyFantastico Says:

I like that some of the hotels in the U.P. still advertise indoor plumbing! =D

  30. divineheather Says:

People kill him or herself one drug, hamburger, drink, smoke, sex at a time. Vices. Everyone has ‘em. At least one. Eh, I could be self-righteous about Ledger’s death, but it wouldn’t prop me up as being a better person. I didn’t know the guy, wasn’t in the room when he did whatever he did. I thought his version of the Joker was outstanding. I never liked him much as an actor, but I was definitely surprised by his performance in Batman.

  31. moonbeam Says:

    why so serious???? mwaaahaaahahaaaa

  32. Reverend-Lion Says:

I loved how heath, as the joker, kept licking his lips just the right way, due to his facial scarring. he was so realistic, where the Jack Nicholson Joker was more fairy-tale psycho.
i also love how the heath joker has a balanced yin-yang thing going for him. this is what makes him so real to me(us).

and you can really feel this joker getting off on the things he does.
