“Don’t Exchange a Face for a Mask”
Filed under: Vexed - June 18, 2008 @ 1:00 pmFrom Emily Post Etiquette book, 1950:
To the modern generation it must seem fantastic that not so very long ago all make-up was considered wicked.
Remember that a mask can never take the place of a face. The face of a clown is grotesque — it is meant to be. If cosmetics are to add to beauty, they must be the allies, not the enemies, of nature.
For those whose eyebrows are too heavy or straggling, plucking is to be commended, because neat edges tidy the face just as clipped borders tidy garden paths.
To the modern generation it must seem fantastic that not so very long ago all make-up was considered wicked.

i see these young little girls at the mall SO FUCKING HOT. and their face is covered with makeup like its halloween.
i think in my head, Damn, if only they saw how hot they are without the make-up.
then i think to myself how i’d love to fuck them silly, hittin em like a steam roller, until all the sweat drips all the makeup off…..
i am a dirty old man in training……

Man Rev-Lion, you are wound up! I know what you mean though, this beautiful weather makes me much hornier than in the winter. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, sun is shining and I am flying.

dor- yes, i am painfully wound up.
i am working on it…..
sometimes i wonder if i should be seeing a psychiatrist….
not so much for my benefit, but for society’s.
i’m just working the kinks OUT ! ! !

That’s why i don’t like my 13-yo sister wearing makeup…

its almost like the make-up represents sexual readiness, like “hi, i’m ready”…….
and so they wear it younger and younger, and sure enough, kids are fucking at younger and younger ages…….
just like kids are doing drugs earlier and earlier…..
sad sad state of affairs….
i blame it on the parents…..most parenst are pretty plastic themselves, if mommy taught the girl that she was pretty as is, then it would be much more balanced….when i fact MOST mommies either passively or directly make kids feel inadequate….
which is why I, for instance, was a bad kid. i lit fires, threw rocks at cars, did drugs as soon as possible. if i had been a girl i would have been wearing make-up trying to get older guys to fuck me.
we gotta win these battle at home everybody…..
the only thing we need to use on our bodies, in my opinion, is Dr. Bronners natural soap….. exercise and healthy food is the rest. THAT’S IT ! ! !

Wearing makeup young doesn’t mean they think they’re ready for fucking. The problem is, that’s exactly what men think. The girls are just wearing it to look more grown up, more cool, and fit in with everyone. I would say it’s mostly for the approval of other girls. Getting boys to like you is nice, but at that age, your main goal in surviving the social jungle is not being shredded by the ruthless female predators known as the “popular girls.”

I just realized that the passage says that keeping your eyebrows nice is good etiquette…

The makeup is just another form of self-expression. I was always taught to emphasize one feature eyes or lips, unless you’re on stage, much like showing cleavage or legs, but not both. Is this too old school? BTW, I think waxing eyebrows with a professional is the way to go. I see way too many women overplucking or tweezing into mismatched shapes and to me it makes them look like curious old birds.
