Ask The Slut: What’s With The Winter Blahs In The Bedroom?
Dear Slut,
You seem to have little trouble getting into the mood no matter what. Ive been with same woman for 11 years and we’ve been married for almost six. We have a good monogamous sex life and are both open minded and try new things.
The only time we seem to have trouble getting in the mood is during the winter, especially the dead of winter! Both of us get the winter blahs a little, me more than her I think. Sex just doesn’t seem as fun when it’s so fucking cold and dreary! I was wondering if you or anyone else has this issue, or are we just nuts.
I Should Be Hibernating
Dear Moody Bear,
GOD yes, I’ve heard of this from a few people lately - I can see this being an issue especially if you share outdoor hobbies with your partner or connect well on summer vacations. The official term for winter blahs or post holiday blues is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It’s related to light and drudgery. So people who get SAD feel fine the rest of the year, but it’s the winter months that bring them down and zap all the zest out of things they usually find pleasurable.
You should look into a light therapy lamp - just look at this stylish number, all egg-shaped and glowing with life. (egg = symbol of fertility!)
Don’t leave your wife out in the cold - perk yourself up with a trip to a sex shop and pick out a little something for your sexy selves - body paint, a new vibrator, or a Lite Brite, ha ha.
And yeah yeah, exercise and get yourself outdoors.
Next year recharge with a proper getaway to Florida, Cancun, or a tropical cruise. For now, check the travel section of your newspaper and snag a weekend special to get you closer to the equator.
If you have a few hundred bucks, it’s worth it. I mean, what else are you going to spend your money on - beer? cable bill? C’mon, you deserve it - and your woman will love the Little Miss Sunshine treatment.
My opinion counts. Send your kinky queries to love [at] thebeautifulkind . com

Where does one find this snazzy little light therapy lamp?
SAD is a very serious condition that affects many, absolutely. I am a depressive who also goes through Seasonal Affective Disorder on top of that in the winter and it leaves me just miserable! I am zapped of creativity and energy throughout the winter - even more so as the winter drags on. Somehow, though, my libido is as incredible as ever throughout the winter and frankly I cannot get enough! Body heat is a good thing! Remember that, Moody Bear!

We keep our house at a chilly (but green) 68 degrees. You might also try kicking the thermostat up a couple notches for date night. It might be snowing outside, but inside it could be a balmy 75 degrees for a few hours! Then snuggle up under the blankets overnight while you restore balance by turning the thermostat down to 55 while you sleep

Thanks for the advice guys, I think Moody Bear is going to be my new nickname! Thankfully this little episode doesn’t last long, in fact I think we’re over it already. It isnt just the SAD thing although thats part of it, we’re both total wussies about being cold. I do turn the thermo up before sex and it usually helps. Ive actually thought there might be a market for crotchless his and her insulated body suits! Think about it!

It’s connected to the production of melatonin - the hormone that regulates your sleep, ergo, your body functions.
I bet you tend to be more sleepy too
People who work during the night suffer from the same symptoms as you do.
An interesting read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin#Roles_in_humans
P.S.
There are melatonin pills in here, which are used to correct person’s sleeping habits.

Yep, when I get in that mood I am sleepier than the average bear. I worked nights for years, the winter really wasnt fun then! These days Im a desperate house husband so getting enough sleep isnt a problem.

omg I am a wuss when it comes to cold, too. Last night he tried tying me up and I kept trying to put my jammies back on. Finally he tied my hands behind my back. The worst part about winter is how many layers of clothes I have to wear.
