6 Reasons Why The News Of Heath Ledger’s Death Should Not Upset You

heath_ledger.jpg1. You didn’t know him.

2. He was the blonde guy in Brokeback Mountain, not Jake.

3. He was Australian, and those guys have a psycho death wish. They LIKE dying.

4. He was going to star in ANOTHER fucking Batman movie later this year. Yawn. And hey he was supposed to be the Joker - they’ll just need to slap white paint on some other actor.

5. He overdosed on drugs BEFORE his scheduled massage - very poor planning on his part.

6. He had at least one bad tattoo.

In other movie news, can you BELIEVE they nominated Juno for a fucking Oscar?! What, do they have a “Cutest Movie” category now? Further proof that George Bush is our president, I mean, the movie wasn’t exactly brilliant. Cute, yes. Oscar worthy? Please. I suppose they nominated Ratatouille, too. Oh christ, I don’t even give a shit about the Oscars, why am I bitching about this? Notice how I didn’t capitalize president. Or christ.

not very sympathetic today are we…

  2. The Beautiful Kind Says:

Believe me, I would be MUCH more sympathetic if he met his end, say, by a sting ray barb through his heart, than overdosing on DRUGS in his NYC pad, with his HOUSEKEEPER finding him cuz she was letting him know his MASSEUSE was there. >SOB< yes, horribly tragic. Let the James Dean comparisons roll…

  3. Reggie Says:

Does the world really need another Batman movie? Apparently, God doesn’t think so. Yes, the Lord works in mysterious ways…

  4. Gina Says:

The Batman film was done in production so it will still have him in it. The film is due out this Summer.

I think he was fairly attractive and kicked ass in Bareback Mountain.

  5. Lana Says:

no kidding, at least it wasn’t jake

  6. The Beau Kind Says:

The new Batman movies deserve a look before you bash them–and I KNOW you didn’t see the most recent one.

I think the new Batman movie will change your opinion about Heath. Gina, let’s drag her along with us to see it! If she doesn’t enjoy the movie, we’ll make her kneel on the slimy, popcorn-ridden floor and blow us instead of watching it.

I do agree about Juno. Somebody is smokin’ more than Heath if they think that movie is a candidate for Best Picture. That being said, I haven’t respected their choices since they started choosing big-budget films like Titanic. Their process for choosing these films is subject to persuasion by the studios–pathetic.

  7. CapnMarrrrk Says:

    1. Correct. I didn’t know him, he’s just another guy who died today.

    2. I thought he did some good quiet emoting, but still, he’s not Jake. Jake seems like he would be a good pal.

    3. Moot.

    4. The rumor in Nerdland is that he is going to be a great psychotic Joker. But you know what? I don’t care. I’m not attached to much these days.

    5. O.D.s are like blowjobs, you never know when it’s gonna come (cum), bad timing is not fate.

    6. Who doesn’t?

I think you should knit a Heath Ledger-Joker pullover ski mask as a fitting memorial.

  8. jimmy Says:

I generally just don’t like it when folks die, whether I envy them or not. Also, enough bitching about Juno. We all know you’re pissed because she didn’t have an abortion but not everyone chooses that option as birth control.

  9. Manj Says:

Batman Begins was an awesome movie

  10. The Monk Says:

You didn’t capitalize “Christ”, that’ll be three ‘Hail Mary’s.

He wasn’t that impressive an actor. Plus, he was in the worst movie ever made: “Monster’s Ball”. In which, he shot himself, interestingly enough. The only reason anyone’s mourning him is he was hunky. That’s what irks me, the shallowness of the mourners. You know who’s a great actor? Steve Buscemi. Would we bombarded by vague, yet emphatic mournings if he bought the farm? No.

  11. The Beautiful Kind Says:

Monk: EXACTLY, the tragedy for everyone is that he was good looking. People hate losing a hottie from their ranks. At least he bred once before he checked out. Oh wait, he’s leaving his 2 year old daughter fatherless. How weird it will be for her to someday watch the father she never knew in Bareback Mountain and Batman.

And Jimmy my bone to pick with Juno is not that she didn’t have an abortion! I’m pro-choice. It takes a lot of guts to have an abortion, but even more guts to have a baby.

  12. Vinnie's friend Says:

Hmm…no comments on the Missourisex-toy thief?

  13. The Beautiful Kind Says:

    Shh…that was me.

  14. DragonflySister Says:

we all know god hates fags, that’s why he’s dead.

Sorry, just a little disenchanted with the blog these days. It used to be about expressing yourself and expanding horizons, and these days it seems like it’s about what you hate and buying things.

    Selah.

  16. Strahil Says:

    :(

He’s one of my favourite actors!

“A Knight’s Tale” was awesome, “10 Things I Hate About You” was brilliant…

    I’ll miss him.

  17. moonbeam Says:

It’s tragic because he was young and yes he was handsome and also a pretty powerful actor, IMHO. So, yes Americans are infatuated, as you are, with the Beautiful Kind :) (I don’t see you featuring/praising the Ugly Kind :). I think it’s funny that you would find cause to be upset if it was a hot and hunky DARK-haired guy (anti-blonde-ite!!)
Batman Begins was actually an amazing movie. I saw it because of Christian Bale (HOT and also an EXCELLENT actor) and I was pleasantly surprised that a Batman movie could have such a mystical/imaginative/intriguing plot-line.
    I will miss him…

  18. Gina Says:

TheBeauKind: Yes let’s make TBK go see the new Batman film! How fun will that be! :)

  19. DragonflySister Says:

    i told you:

The radical Baptist church known for picketing the funerals of American soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq has announced that they intend to protest Heath Ledger’s stateside memorial service because he played a gay character in “Brokeback Mountain.”

“You cannot live in defiance of God. He (Ledger) got on that big screen with a big, fat message: God is a liar and it’s OK to be gay,” said Shirley Phelps in a statement sent out by the Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church.

  20. Jen Says:

Shirley Phelps makes me smile in a sick, twisted, I-am-amused-by-crazy-fucktards kind of way.

But Jake makes me smile more. He lives another day, PRAISE BE THE LORD!

  21. El Zilcho Says:

Heath Ledger was a promising young actor. Has it done anything for all time? His performance in Brokeback Mountain was very good, but not quite timeless. Batman Begins rejuvenated the franchise, and The Dark Knight looks excellent. Ledger’s interpretation of the Joker looked like he was stepping it up to another level.

The details seem to be that he accidentally overdosed. Yeah, that’s vague, people accidentally overdose on heroin all the time. But he had been talking for months about how his sleep patterns were screwed up from his prep for the Joker. He is one of those actors who took The Method to the extreme, like Brando, or Daniel Day Lewis.

I don’t think Ledger will be missed for what he did, but for what he could have done. There was an article on Slate which made a good point: years from now, we’ll be watching movies and we’ll say to each other “Heath Ledger would have nailed that role.”

  22. TheLion.... Says:

i have to throw my 2 cents in…
i agree, who really gives a fuck about some rich actor. i feel ya. i didn’t even know who the hell he was until he died…blah blah. BUT, i must admit, the new batman, that IS coming out is actually much different, its not so gotham and shit. I haven’t liked batman since the 90’s. But i saw the preview of this new one, which does contain heath ledger, but no he doesn’t wear all that crappy makeup like jack nicholson. totally different interpretation of the JOKER. I won’t give that credit to heath, though. only to the director.
So, i feel ya on the heath hate. but always be ready for something new, and this batman looks quite fun and evil. not comicbook land, like all the others.
just for the record, this new batman is the FIRST movie for the big screen actually filmed on 70mm film stock, to be viewed in IMAX. So it looks quite cinematic.
Always keep an open mind, or you may miss the magic moments.

  23. MsKittyFantastico Says:

Jake is WAY hotter of the two… defiantly my masturbatory material.

  24. Reverend-Lion Says:

oh GOD, jake is hideous to me. his sister on the other hand deserves my cock……
though, i am FUCKING TIRED OF HER PLAYING EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ROLE OF THE SUPER-HERO GIRLFRIEND THING. SHOW YOUR TITS ALREADY MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL……WE WANNA SEE BUSH…..!!!!

  25. divineheather Says:

I felt the same way when I heard the news. He was great in Brokeback Mountain, but up until that point, his other movies blew hard chunks. However, now that I’ve seen his version of the Joker … Well, he checked out right before he realized his potential. I was impressed with his performance. He carried the movie.
