Yo, Starbucks Pastries SUCK, Too

starbucks-pastries.jpgI started drinking coffee back in November, so have been to Starbucks about a million times since then because it’s where everyone and their donkey wants to meet up.

At first I would order a pastry to go with my coffee, but after about three times, I realized that Starbucks pastries SUCK.

They super suck. Not one of them is any good. Even the chocolate ones taste like they scribbled on them with a brown crayon. I won’t even accept any of their free samples anymore. I don’t understand how they probably sell a million slices of coffee cake a day and everyone eats it and doesn’t let on that it tastes like blocks of sawdust. Maybe I am surrounded by robots…

They are hands down the worst baked-goods on the planet. More like baked-bads.

But the macaroons are divine. When you can get them. I haven’t seen them in about a year and I’m wondering if maybe I imagined them to make up for how terrible everything else is.

Even back when there was only one Starbucks the pastries were disappointing. On the other hand coffee in all the good bakeries also suck. My friends and I decided it was some sort of essential tradeoff.

I don’t go to Starbucks that often anymore when I’m in town since there are so many other choices in my general vicinity but the basic problem seems to be that all their baked goods are desperately underbaked. I understand it’s because the average consumer overwhelmingly associates softness with luxury and quality. Also I think they might ship better. But yeah, too bad about that.

If you have Panera Bread near you, they have great pastries (for a chain) and decent coffee. Also, a much more comfortable place to hang, out and work, with free wi-fi.

OK, and THEN I read the earlier post. Well I’ve never had their sandwiches, but I really have found some of their pastries to be pretty good. No chain will equal what a good local bakery would have. The ones I’ve been in played classical music, not elevator crud. Guess we’ve had a different experience.
